Suspicion

Suspicion

Birds have specialized in being suspicious animals. They have perfected it to an art. Their superior vision and their intelligence give them a keen sense of what's going on around them. In the wild, these attributes help them survive. Life depends upon recognizing dangers early and escaping. Their ''radar'' is turned on all the time.

Besides a visual recognition of objects or animals that might be harmful to them, birds' suspicion broadens to include an alertness to even the ''feeling' of danger. If a person or animal is present who has a hostile attitude toward birds, they are likely to perceive this as a danger and react accordingly. cards.gif (5154 bytes)
