INFO FOR HEALTH EMERGENCY

As a matter of routine, please know these FACTS get the info from you VETEREINARIAN as backup: your dog's NORMAL temperature, pulse, mucous membrane color and respiration. Being aware of these normal conditions makes it easier to observe if your dog is not "normal" when acting ill.

Normal dog temp: 101-102 degrees
Normal Respiration: differs with SIZE of the dog breed - ASK YOUR VET!
Mucous membranes: Should be PINK, not RED or WHITE

BLOAT INFO

To take your dogs temperature with a digital rectal thermometer, cover with a thermometer cot (available from any pharmacy) dip in KY or Vaseline, insert about 1 inch into rectum (maybe a bit less with tiny dogs) for 60 seconds. A digital thermometer will beep when it is done.

In an emergency PLEASE consult a veterinarian FIRST if at all possible!
