THE
RICHARDS FAMILY NEW HOME!

Our
Dramatic Moving Saga:
While my hubby and I are fine, as
are all of our animals (2 Dogs, a Dane and a Pointer,
as well as 3 cats who were in a custom made crate)....we
had an adventurous and almost fatal (
Bill and I were VERY sore, I broke a few ribs, and we
both have lots of bruises) ..trip to FL from
our old home in NH on 7/15/02.

Here
is how the trip went: Tuesday at 2:30 AM in the (7/16)
morning in Richmond, VA , Either the A frame (lower control
arm) cracked on our truck (1998 4 Runner) or we lost a
ball joint while we were in the left-most passing lane
on Interstate 95 in Virginia. When the part failed it
caused the car to swerve to the right through all the
other lanes and we crashed into the right hand embankment...
either way, our truck was totaled...and I sold MY car
before we left..... so now we were CARLESS!
Miraculously, and thanks to Bill's good driving skills,
no-one was injured, save for some broken ribs, bruises
and soreness. And the animals were all fine, too. Fortunately,
we had WONDERFUL friends within 8 miles of the
accident (remember my emergency contact list?) Bobbie
and Joe Palsa (Richmond VA) who put us and our flock up
for the night. After getting a bit of rest, we had to
find a rental van and deal with our insurance company
before getting back on the road to our new home. Joe and
Bobbie carted us EVERYWHERE and Bobbie fed us all. BTW
their Dane Catherine
is a Beauty!~ So is their little granddaughter Shannon...although
I think they must have been EXHAUSTED by our presence
in their lovely home, they were so wonderful to care for
us so well. THANK YOU BOBBIE AND JOE!

We
finally reached Switzerland, Florida (the actual town
our home is in
just outside Jacksonville) sometime in the wee hours of
the morning
Wednesday 7/17/02.
But,
then we had more bad news/ good news....Just as we arrived
in FL, we got a call from our mortgage officer that even
though the closing had occurred, we didn't ACTUALLY own
our house, as FHA pulled out of the mortgage commitment
at the last minute, something having to do with the location
of the well or some such thing. However, the good news
was that the mortgage company found another backer, but
the closing was put off put off until early the following
week. The owners kindly let us live here though until
we closed on 7/25! Thank goodness!

We
were feeling temporarily homeless and carless and totally
exhausted but grateful that we and the fur kids were unharmed
in our accident.
