GAG= glycosaminogylcans
Reseach Studies

Glucosamine HCL:
In addition to being the main substrate for the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans
and hyaluronic acid, the primary function of glucosamine is to stimulate
the secretion of glycosaminoglycans in the articular cartilage. It
was also found to provide natural protection against the cartilage-damaging
effects of some NSAIDs.
Chondroitin:
In addition to being the major glycosaminogylcans found in cartilage,
its primary function is to inhibit degradative enzymes. Degradative enzymes
contribute to cartilage breakdown.
Physician's Desk Reference, 1999.
>From The Pill Book For Pets, 1998:
Oral glycosaminoglycans are derived from a number of natural sources.
Cartilage from cattle or sharks is the most common source.
There is extensive anecdotal and clinical evidence that oral GAGs may be useful, but the well-controlled studies needed to confirm these observations are lacking.
Cautions And Warnings:
Do not use in place of accurate diagnosis, professional treatment,
or in infected joints.
Possible Side Effects: rare: diarrhea
Puppies/kittens: There are no well-controlled studies in puppies and kittens. Oversupplementation of nutrients, minerals and vitamins may increase the risk of developmental diseases in growing pups. Use only if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Senior Animals: Oral GAGs are probably safe, but there are also
no well-controlled studies in seniors. The major risk is that owners
may use GAGs instead of seeking veterinary advice and could delay accurate
diagnosis and treatment of serious problems.

What is Glucosamine ?
Glucosamine is a natural substance found in the human body. It plays an
important role in the health
and resiliency of your cartilage. Cartilage is the soft tissue that forms
the cushions that keep your
bones from grinding against each other in your joints. Without cartilage,
your knees and elbows would
quickly wear out.
If people already have Glucosamine in their bodies, why do they need to take more ?
As we age, we lose some of the glucosamine and other substances in our
cartilage. This can lead to
the thinning of our cartilage and to the onset and progression of osteoarthritis,
the most common type of
arthritis.
Glucosamine has also been hailed as a remedy for the relief of osteoarthritis
symptoms.
It may improve symptoms in selected patients with osteoarthritis, according
to
preliminary European studies, but definitive longterm proof is lacking.
Glucosamine has
not been evaluated for other forms of arthritis.
What is Chondroitin ?
Chondroitin is made from two sugar like molecules that are attached to
each other. Long chains of
chondroitins form part of the ground substance of cartilage tissue and
help to make cartilage resilient to
the pressures it experiences from bearing weight.
How do I know I am getting the right formula ?
Research of over 300 clinical studies have shown that the proper combination
ratio of 5:4 of
Glucosamine & Chondroitin, which is found in our formula, enable the
formation of spongy shock
absorber within cartilage which decreases the chances of the cartilage
becoming malnutritioned, dried,
thinned, and therefore more susceptible to deterioration and injury.
Benefits :
Research shows this formula supports and nourishes :
- All Joints, Hands, Wrists, Knees, Neck, Back, Hips, Ankles, and Feet
- Cartilage tissue throughout the body
- Aids in preventing and treating Osteoarthritis, Arthritis, Bone injuries, Joint injuries and more...
- Great for athletes to maintain healthy, strong bones and maintain stamina!
