Mystique's Page

A memorial.....

It is with an emptiness in my heart that I want to tell everyone that Mystique passed over to the Rainbow Bridge on January 14th.  This big, strong girl of only 4 years was with me through many trials in my life and it is with much sadness that she has left me at such an early age.  She had been spayed the week previous...she died from auto ammune disease....hemolytic anemia...we are not sure what it was caused by. For those of us who have been fortunate enough to know the love of a dane, we know how deeply they touch our very hearts and souls.  She was proud to work in schools to educate children and had the patience I can only wish to acquire in my lifetime.
Her son has the love of his mom, and I know he will carry her spirit with him...and me...I will miss her..

Lend Me a Pup
 unknown
"I will lend to you for awhile,
A Great Dane pup," God said,
"For you to love him while he lives
And mourn him when he's dead."
"Maybe for eight or ten years,
Or only two or three....
But will you, 'till I call him back,
Take care of him for me?"
"He'll bring his charms to gladden you
And (should his stay be brief)
you'll always have his memories
   As solace for your grief."
"I  cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return --
But there are lessons taught below
I want this pup to learn."
"I've looked the whole world over
 In search of teachers true
And from the folk that crowd's life's land --
I have chosen you."
"Now, will you give him all your love
Nor think the labours vain,
Nor hate me when I come to take
my Great Dane back again?"
I fancied that I heard them say
"Dear Lord Thy Will be Done,"
For all the joys this Great Dane will bring,
The risk of grief we will run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness
We'll love him while we may
And for the happiness we've known forever grateful stay.
But, should you call him back
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.
If, by our love, we've managed,
Your wishes to achieve--
In memory of him that we loved,
 And to help us while we grieve;
When our faithful bundle departs this world of strife,
We'll get yet another Great Dane pup and love him all his life.
